Ya Sou!
Cyprus is a small, wonderful island situated in the Mediterranean sea which has a mix of Turkish and Greek influences. The North of the island is inhabited by Turkish Cypriots whilst the South is filled with Greek Cypriots.
Paphos is stationed on the south-western coast of the island and is a popular resort amongst families, couples, and archeological seekers. With its glorious sunshine and sea views, it’s a lovely place to spend time with loved ones.
Accommodation
Alexander the Great Beach Hotel is a luxury 4* (should be 5 in my opinion) located in a central location on the sea front next to a blue flag beach. It has a classic yet modern look and everything is superbly polished. It has several pools, including an infinity pool, adult only, indoor pool, and children’s pool. There is even a swim-up bar in one of the pools, so you will never be out of a drink.
The hotel also has a spa where you can pamper yourself with massages, facials, or get a mani/pedicure. There is even a salon if you want a change in hairstyle.
For those with young kids, there is also a kids club where you can leave your children to be entertained and make new friends whilst you soak up the sun!
There are also several restaurants serving food from all corners of the globe. If you are peckish, you can also get food from the lobby bar or pool bars.
Since we were getting married in the hotel, they kindly gave us an upgrade to a private cabana. It was amazing! It even gets cleaned twice a day! We even got a champagne breakfast the day after our wedding.
Food & Drink
Ta Mpania Cafe: This is ideally located on the seafront. It’s a great place to hang out with friends and relax. It has a large assortment of delicious cocktails and other beverages to suit everyone’s needs. It has a friendly chilled out atmosphere but also has a subtle upbeat tempo. It’s also a great place to watch the sunset!
Pinguino: One of our favourite places in Paphos. It is a great place to visit, whether you want a coffee, a few drinks or some food. It’s also a great place to watch sport as there are many TVs throughout the restaurant.
Alea Lounge Bar: Another great bar/restaurant that serves excellent food/drink at great prices. On some evenings, there is also a show with fire acrobats which is splendid to watch.
Things to see/do
Tomb of the Kings: Paphos is renowned for its historical importance and the Tomb of the Kings is home to many tombs, dating back to the 4th century. It is even a UNESCO World Herotage Site.
Watersports: On the beach, you will find many different sports for those adrenalin junkies out there. From jet skis, to riding a UFO (similar to a banana boat, but much more intense), paragliding and water skiing.
Lockdown: If escape rooms are more your thing then head over to Lockdown Paphos. It has 3 different rooms where you can test out your skills and solve a variety of puzzles/riddles to try and escape the room before the time is up.
Beach: If you are looking to relax then head over to one of the many blue flag beaches. Although, Paphos is a harbour town there are still many beaches for you to explore.
Aphrodite Water Park: For a fun, filled family day out then take a trip to the local waterpark. With a great collection of different slides and a wave pool, it is a must do activity when you need to cool down!
