La Scala
On our first night in Rome, we just wondered around the area where we were staying to get some food as we were all hungry and pretty tired. Wendy and Mike didn’t really have high hopes for the food based on their experience in Venice. BUT, they were pleasantly surprised.
Verdict: Scrummy
A lovely seafood restaurant located near the Spanish steps. Considering this is based in the touristy area, these 2 foodies were pleasantly surprised at the food. It was delicious.
Verdict: Scrummy
Of course, it wouldn’t be a holiday if these 2 didn’t have steak. They decided to go to Bull Steakhouse which is situated near the Pyramid. At the back of the restaurant is the butcher, where you go up and order your steak and say how big you would like as the price is based per every 100g. They both decided on the fillet steak.
Verdict: OK (steak wasn’t seasoned well)
And somewhere you should stay away from is Gastronomia in Rome (few streets away from the Colosseum). The food is GRIM!
Domus Corsini
This is luxury accommodation based in the Trastevere area. They are lovely, big rooms with an ensuite bathroom and a shared kitchen. As it is an aparthotel, there is no permanent reception or other facilities. Nevertheless, we were greeted warmly and had contact details for the manager if we needed anything. The room is cleaned daily and has free coffee/pastries.
The accommodation is located in a great area which is filled with evening entertainment within the different squares. It is also a 20-30 minute walk to the main attractions including the Vatican.
