So I was fortunate enough to be invited to the wedding of the year (soz Pippa Middleton, I’m not talking about you!). Wendy and Mike finally tied the knot on the lovely island of Cyprus. The whole week was jam-packed with friends, family, laughter, tears and the odd beverage or two.
The happy couple decided to get married at Alexander the Great Beach Hotel. It is centrally located, a quick walk from the main restaurants and bars and a short stroll from the main harbour. The hotel was absolutely stunning, it had amazing views and the service was brilliant from all members of staff. The hotel even gave Wendy and Mike a free upgrade to a private cabana with their own pool. That was a great asset for them and all their friends to hang out. (Probably not for their neighbours though.#sorry)
The venue was just on the terrace of the hotel and had the most splendid views. It was so pretty that it didn’t require any decoration for the actual ceremony.
I was also (unofficially) a groomsman, although they couldn’t find a suit in my size so I had to make do with the beige attire, but it was well suited for an abroad wedding.
The shock of the day was that Wendy cried, (#quiverlip) who knew that was even possible. As her closest friends were in shock and disbelief, it triggered a domino effect of tears. It was a very emotional day and I probably would have shed a tear yellow tear if it were at all possible.
The whole day was amazing, the food was scrumptious and plenty of it, drinks were flowing and everybody had a great day. They even threw in a Chinese tea ceremony as it was a fusion wedding. To top it off, the cake was awesome!
If anyone is thinking about getting married abroad, we can’t recommend Paphos enough. It’s a wonderful place for couple, families, and friends.
